KA Sebastian

SAATA pays fond tributes to one of the early transactional analysts in India, and a founding trustee of SAATA - K.A. Sebastian - who passed away on March 22, 2021, just a few days before we lost P.K. Saru.

Born on March 9, 1953, K.A. Sebastian was the only child of Kalaparambath Antony and Mariyamkutty in Kerala. He was one of the earliest students of Fr. George Kandathil at the Institute for Counselling and Transactional Analysis (ICTA). He became a CTA in the Organizational field in 1995 and was dedicated to the development of TA and ICTA. For a while he pursued TSTA, but later decided to focus all his efforts in promoting training and certifications of ICTA.

In spite of his busy schedule at the Federal Bank, where he worked full time and retired as Chief Manager, he followed Fr. George, as an able and trusted lieutenant in his mission to spread TA in India. His dedication and commitment to Fr. George and the ICTA is unparalleled. Till his last breath, over 3 decades, he served the ICTA incessantly. He began his association with TA and the ICTA in early 1990's and rose to become the President of ICTA in 2014 and served in that position till his demise.

He has notably authored books on TA in Malayalam, namely "Thalayilezhuth Thirutham", which was later published in English as "You can shape your destiny", and "An Emotional Rebirth". In his last days he was writing a book on the subject he was most passionate about - neuroscience and TA.

Sebastian was part of the initial group of trainers who conceived and established SAATA and served on its Board for over a decade. He supported the mission and vision of SAATA and regularly attended SAATA conferences, Multi Level Learning events and trainers' meets and workshops.

Sebastian will be fondly remembered by many of his TA colleagues, friends and trainees. He is survived by his wife Jamma and three children, Sinoj, Sooraj and Greeshma!
