Heggidira?
is a word in Kannada for ‘How are you?’ We have equivalents of that in almost all languages. Kaise Ho? Kem Cho? Kemon Ache? Eppadi irukkeenga? All of these are ways in which we start conversations with each other and indicate our interest in getting to know another. We have chosen this phrase as a metaphor for pausing and asking people how they are, creating safety to open up, normalizing conversations around mental health and reducing the stigma around mental illness. This year, the SAATA conference hopes to provide space for dialogues and conversations on various aspects of Mental Health. Apart from keynote sessions by eminent practitioners, we will have 25 stimulating brief workshops / presentations over the two days.
